Quite possibly the cutest thing I've ever painted...
Here's the final for the pet portrait of Ludlow. It's full of tooth rotting sugary cuteness! I'm really happy with how it turned out - and so are the couple I was commissioned by (phew!)
I agree with Loo. The amount of detail on the dog is just right. It seems to accent against the stuffed toys enought so that you can destinguish what is real and what is not. Same things with the trees. Awesome work.
I love painting hair and fur. I think he also has a lot of detail because I had to do so many layers. I was working from a straight on flash lit reference at first, and it was totally throwing me off. The dog looked so 2D compared to the lighting on the bears. So I had the client take a flashless photo lit from a window on the side. Worked out a lot better.
