This looks like a job for ...

So, I've been working on my Superman illustration for the Shuster Awards next month. I wanted to go for something that showcased Clark Kent more, since everyone will be drawing the classic Superman in costume. I started out with this rough:

But then I realized I needed to do something vertically oriented (to fit the rest of the Superman illustrations). So I think I recreated the same feeling with this sketch:

And then, the inked, larger final version.

I added just a bit of colour -- his costume underneath the suit is red and yellow and blue and his eyes are blue. But the final is otherwise black and white. But my scanner is really lame and keeps crashing when I try to scan it in colour. What do you think?

I dig it ... I think it would be nice to have some of the dudes all beaten up overlapping onto Lois (that's her right?) ... maybe an arm in front of her feet ... but overall looks good ... so how did you get this job?
They contacted you?

Yeah, they contacted me. It was kind of weird, as I don't have a particularly high profile. Maybe someone at the Shuster Awards is a fan of my work?

I like the gentleness in the first drawing. The final one looks great too.
